Status updates, and notice to contributors!

Posted by on 31 May 2007 | Tagged as: notices, status updates

Hello!

This is a status update, and a notice to those who have contributed.

Over 50 writers contributed (Jack has the full list; he’ll be posting that shortly), and we have an excellent mix of poetry, visual art, literary criticism, and rants. Local artist Jane Butters very graciously provided a plethora of her own amazing illustrations for use in the anthology. Keep watching this space; we’ll be providing a sneak peek of the design within the next few weeks!

The extended submission deadline of April 20th, 2007 has passed. We are no longer accepting poetry submissions for Trails Through the Greenbelt. There will be future publications, so keep watching this space for information on when the submission periods for those are.

For those who did make the deadline, and submitted poetry to Jack Freedman, Doug Cala, or myself (Jen Carlo) for the anthology:

In order for your work to be published, you are required to fill out the release form and send back to us by July 1st. If you do not return the release form by July 1st, we cannot legally publish your work. This is required due to copyright issues when we get a Library of Congress number, and it is mandated by our publisher, Infinity Publishing. To repeat, if you do not get the release form back to us, we will be forced to remove your work from the anthology. We don’t want to have to do this to anyone, so get those forms in!

To access our release form, right-click (or CTRL-click if using a Mac) on this link and select from the menu “Save As” (or “Save File As”, “Save Link As”, “Save Target As”). Save the file AGREEMENT.doc to your Desktop. Open this file in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or whatever word processing application you use. You need to print out this form. Fill it out with a pen, and get it back to us (the mailing address is on the form.) You can mail it to Jack, give it to him, me or Doug in person, or make some arrangement to get it back to us. If you are unable to print out the form, let us know as soon as possible so that we can get a copy of the form to you.

In the release form, there is a space for authors to write a short (~100 words or so) autobiographical statement which will appear in the anthology alongside your work. You can write whatever you want readers to know about you. Be as specific or vague as you feel comfortable doing. Writing an autobiographical statement is optional, but we encourage everyone to do so.

If you have any questions about this, or need to make arrangements for getting a copy of the form or getting it back to us, please contact us either by registering and commenting here, or through our MySpace, or if you see us in person. You can also email Jack at jfreedman@si.rr.

Thank you so much for your wonderful contributions! It is so heartening to know that there are so many talented writers and artists on Staten Island.

–Jen Carlo
