First royalty statement

Posted by Jack on 23 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Accounting problems have been fixed.  We have raised quite a bit of money to cover the production costs.  I can’t guarantee that a profit will be made, but on the offchance that it is, compensation will be given to those that have helped to donate funds to this project.

On another note, TTtG will soon be available at the Clove Lake Book Store.  Only five copies will be stocked, but there may be a promise for more somewhere down the line.  So for those of you who have still not bought a book, I recommend that you try out Clove Lake Book Store.  If you can’t find TTtG, request it and they will order it for you.  That’s it for now.  Stay tuned to this space for more info.

Accounting problems

Infinity Publishing is having some accounting problems, so for the last couple of months, we have not been receiving royalty statements.  Apparently, I’m not the only one who has been curious about this.  Once we get our first royalty statement, I will give you an idea as to how many units of TTtG we have sold.

As far as stocking the book is concerned, I have not gotten to the book retailers yet.  But rest assured, the book is still available online at all retailers.  I’d like to give props to the people at The Vibe who have been so kind as to help promote TTtG, as well as purchase copies of the book.  If you want to learn more about The Vibe, check out their site right here.

Currently, I am calling up some places to reserve space.  Stay tuned.

In memoriam

I learned today that Rebecca Vergara, one of the authors in TTtG, passed away from a heart attack.  For those of us who knew Rebecca, it took us all by surprise.  She was a very sweet woman and an excellent poet and writer to boot.  At the place where I work, South Beach Psychiatric Center, we have a regular event called Wellness Day.  Rebecca would not only participate in the festivities, but has also facilitated some wellness-related groups as well.  We knew her best for groups related to writing and spirituality, namely reading auras.  When she learned about an anthology of poetry being published, she immediately took interest.  I remember looking through her poetry to see what was suitable.  She definitely had a good selection.  She had a gift where she could write short poems, yet say so much within the words she scribed.   She will be greatly missed.  Once an obituary is officially posted, I will repost it on this site.

Stocking the book

Posted by Jack on 16 May 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

We are currently working out a list of places where we plan on storing TTtG. Hopefully we will garner enough attention from the local literary markets. Given the success of our networking with people at various open mics around Staten Island, and given that we have secured that we will get some reviews in various publications, I’m certain that we will get some exposure on various fronts. Once we get these reviews, they will surely be posted on this blog. Stay tuned.

New videos

Footage from the Release Party

Posted by Jack on 28 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

In the previous blog entry, TTtG author and videographer David Lopez posted some links to YouTube video footage of the TTtG Release Party.  I definitely suggest that you check them out if you were there and especially if you missed the date.  I tried posting the embed codes of the videos before, but it made the page look entirely too funky on my browser, so I’m just going to suggest that you follow the links.  There are two of them, and there’s a promise for more, since not all of the readers are in the video just yet.  Kudos to David for accomplishing this.

Major props

I’d like to thank everybody who was able to make it to the official TTtG Fundraiser. Because of your support, we managed to raise a sizable amount of money from book sales, art sales, and bath product sales combined. Of course, there is a promise for more.

Here’s a selection of pictures taken by Doug Cala and his family. Featured in this selection is a duet by Doug and myself. Also included in these photos (in order) are Adrianna Goffredo, Jen Carlo, Jackie Cassen, Just Words, Doug Cala, and myself. In addition, there’s also the setup that the owners of the ETG Book Cafe helped us put together.

Correction

Posted by Jack on 09 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: events, notices, promotion & publicity, status updates

I have 150 copies of TTtG on hand, so if you’d like to pick up some copies, e-mail me at jfreedman@si.rr.com to arrange how you’d like to receive the book before we sell it at the release party.

There is a correction that needs to be made. We were not able to secure the Greenbelt Nature Center, but we are still on our feet looking for more appropriate places to have our official release party. We have a few places in mind, so I will surely keep you updated on whatever developments take place. Thank you for your patience.

Fundraiser at ETG Book Cafe

Posted by Jack on 07 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: fundraising

We have set an official date for our fundraiser. It will be on March 15th from 3-5PM at the Every Thing Goes Book Cafe.

It is located on 208 Bay Street near Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY. The phone number is (718)442-8256. Their e-mail is etg.bookcafe@yahoo.com, and you should also check out their website at http://www.well.com/user/ganas/etgstores/bookcafe/index.html and subscribe to their list-serve for events taking place on their neighborhood stage.

It is only 3 blocks away from the Staten Island Ferry. We will be selling assorted products, such as jewelry by Jen and artwork by Jane. In addition, there will be poetry readings by Jen, Doug, myself, as well as other performers who have yet to fully commit. We encourage everybody who attends to patronize the place. I highly recommend their teas (all fair trade), as well as the Hum-Dinger. It is a bagel spread with both cream cheese and hummus. For the vegans, I recommend the mandalas, which are assorted seeds pasted together in a circle. Stay tuned to this site for more information on our events.

We have yet to determine an exact time and location for the official TTtG release party. Once I receive this info, I will post it immediately.
